High sugar content, fruit are 1-3 lbs. each and skin color is rust-white with green stripes. Delicate sweet flavor.

Introduced in 1890s. Delicious, creamy sweet potato like taste. Delicata has a fine grained, light orange flesh good steamed or baked.

Delicata has a very tough skin which makes if perfect for baking on coals, on the grill or to just simmer in its on juices while in the oven.

This tough skin also serves as the perfect wrapper protecting it for up to 6 months in storage! Delicata is a premier storage squash. If you are one of the off the grid folks and/or homesteading, this squash can add valuable nutrition throughout the winter. They are easy to grow and stockpile. It doesn't come much better than this.

Also known as sweet potato squash because of its flavor or peanut squash because of its shape.

SOWING: Sow seeds directly in garden in late spring after weather has warmed and all danger of frost has passed. Seeds can also be started in individual peat pots indoors or in the greenhouse 2 to 3 weeks before setting out. Cover seeds with 1/2 to 3/4 inch fine soil well firmed down.

SPACING: Plant 6 to 8 seeds per hill spaced 3 to 4 feet apart. Space rows 3 feet apart.

THINNING & TRANSPLANTING: Thin or transplant to 3 healthiest plants per hill. Leave 18 to 24 inches between plants in rows.

GERMINATI0N: One to two weeks depending upon weather and soil warmth. Keep soil moderately moist during germination.
